Why we choose New Orleans.
The great city of New Orleans a.k.a. the Big Easy is known for its rich cultural history in music, food, and celebrations. Unfortunately, this city took a
huge hit with Hurricane Katrina back in 2004. Because of this, the population
decreased drastically, going from over 500,000 people to less than 300,000 people. This has affected the economy, family, and general wellbeing of NOLA. One of the things affected most by the natural disaster was the neighborhood. Whole neighborhoods were destroyed by the storm, and many more were severely damaged. Thus, the reason we choose New Orleans is because it fits well with our theme of Neighborhood renewal. Neighborhoods and communities really shape how a
person lives, and we want the opportunity to parter with organizations and groups that are working to improve local neighborhoods in the Big Easy. We look forward to this opportunity to positively affect the city of New Orleans. Here is a picture of our team that will going to serve in New Orleans.
